Piglets
What breed do you have? - Mainly Berkshire, but we do have a few Large black Berkshire crosses.
When can we pick them up? - Once Piglets are weaned, which is approximately 6-8 weeks old.
Do you castrate the borrows? Borrows will be cut at 4 weeks.
Do you cut eye teeth? Eye teeth are not cut.
Do you give them shots? No animal on the farm is given any shots unless they are sick.
Do you worm your piglets? Piglets are not wormed. Mom is wormed two weeks before farrowing in addition to every six months.
Pork Meat
What is the price for a whole hog? $3.25 hanging weight of the hog.
Can I get a half? Yes, you can do a half.
Can I get a quarter? No, but please look into our bundles.
What is hanging weight? Hanging weight is the weight of the hog after it has been gutted, skinned, and cleaned. No head hooves, guts, etc.
How much meat will I get back? A 275lb live pig is about 180lbs hanging weight, which equals about 110lbs of pork, cut and wrapped. Please see the hanging weight cheat sheet for reference.
How big of freezer will I need? Approximately 1 cubic foot of freezer space is needed for every 15-20lb of meat.
Do I pick my own cuts? Yes.
Beef Meat
What is the price for a whole beef? $6.50 hanging weight of the beef.
Can I get a half? Yes, we do halves and quarters.
What is hanging weight? Hanging weight is the weight of the cow after it has been gutted, skinned, and cleaned. No head hooves, guts, etc.
How much meat will I get back? A 1000lb cow will produce approximately 410lbs of meat, cut and packaged. Please see the hanging weight cheat sheet for reference.
How big of freezer will I need? Approximately 1 cubic foot of freezer space is needed for every 15-20lb of meat.
Do I pick my own cuts? Yes.
